The ERC Starting Grants 2024 call closed for applications on 7 November 2023. These are the preliminary data on submitted proposals: The ERC received 3,474 applications. This marks an increase of 29% compared to the previous call in 2023. The highest number of applications was submitted in the domain of Physical Sciences and Engineering (1,466 - 42%) followed by Social Sciences and Humanities (1,029 - 30%), and Life Sciences (976 - 28%). Women submitted nearly 40% of proposals. The ERC Scientific Council earmarked €601 million for an estimated 387 Starting Grants in 2024.The projects selected for funding are planned to be announced in summer 2024.
